A mountaineering misadventure
On Friday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m., Warner Free Lecture series presents Ty Gagne, whose book “Where You’ll Find Me” traces the route of 32-year-old Kate Matrosova, who died mountaineering in the White Mountains on Feb. 15, 2015. Gagne will tell Matrosova’s story and answer questions via Zoom. Visit bit.ly/3pScEUO to register.

Hit the road
The Fitchburg Art Museum, 185 Elm Street, Fitchburg, presents “American Roadsides: Frank Armstrong’s Photographic Legacy,” Saturday, Feb. 12, through Sunday, June 5. The exhibit celebrates Armstrong’s decades-long career as a landscape photographer and educator and features the work of seven of his former students. The Trustees of Reservations, the state’s largest land conservation and preservation nonprofit, announces its February school vacation activities, including cooking classes, art courses, nature programs, and farm camps to keep kids active and engaged during winter break. Also offered will be guided hikes, fire pits, science programs, and explorations of Castle Hill on the Crane Estate in Ipswich.
