The Bromfield-North Middlesex Alpine ski teams started the season off strong in the first giant slalom event of the season, Jan. 14. The boys placed first out of eight teams in the Mass Bay West Ski League with 461 points, and the girls were second with 424 points.
North Middlesex junior Noah Bagley led the boys Friday, placing first with a combined time of 41.59 seconds. Next in were Bromfield sophomore Oscar Pride (43.48) in third and Bromfield eighth-grader Cole Maddalone (44.48) in seventh, each with personal best finishes.

Bromfield seventh-grader Jasper Pride made his high school debut and collected points for the varsity team with a 14th-place finish and a time of 45.49. North Middlesex sophomore Rowan McCarthy was knocked offline by a near fall, losing speed, but ultimately recovering to put up the team’s final points with a 19th-place finish in 46.92.
On the girls end, Bromfield junior Imogen Slavin was first in for the team, placing second—a personal best finish—in 45.95. North Middlesex sophomore Maddie Rausch followed in 14th (51.16), and Bromfield eighth-grader Libby Bassage was 17th. Bassage’s time was lost due to a mistake in race management that left several athletes off the start and results sheets.
Bromfield junior Siena Stanten skied a personal best of 20th-place with a combined time of 54.62, and North Middlesex senior teammate Ashley Regan was 23rd in 55.66.
The teams raced again, Jan. 18, at a giant slalom event at the Nashoba Valley Ski Area. Results were not available as of press time.
