In the past week, police made three motor vehicle stops, two resulting in verbal warnings and one in a written warning or citation. They also checked on two disabled vehicles, made a well-being check, and responded to five false burglar alarms. The Ambulance Service received two emergency medical calls and took two people to area hospitals, one with Advanced Life Support services in attendance.
Tuesday, Dec. 7
At 7:57 a.m. police were called to a West Bare Hill Road home because a 5-year-old child was missing; an officer quickly located the child, who was in the garage. At 1:27 p.m. a resident came to the police station to report someone had used the resident’s Social Security number to apply for a credit card; the bank had notified the resident. At 2:25 p.m. a Still River Road resident reported that a FedEx package had arrived empty, but with no damage to the box; it is not clear at what point the contents were taken. At 5:18 p.m. police stopped a 56-year-old Bolton man driving on Slough Road; they issued him a summons for driving with a suspended license and speeding.
Wednesday, Dec. 8
At 12:55 a.m. someone on Littleton County Road called to complain about loud music from a nearby house; all was quiet when an officer arrived. At 6:54 a.m. a caller reported a tree had fallen on power lines near Pond and Whitman roads; National Grid was notified.
Thursday, Dec. 9
At 10:25 a.m. an oil truck slid in the snow on Peninsula Road and blocked the street. The Fire Department was called in case the truck rolled over, but a tow truck was able to free the vehicle and tow it off. At 11:57 a.m. someone came to the station to say an unknown person had applied for a credit card using the resident’s address. Police urge people to bring in their mail as soon as possible, as fraudsters may try to gather personal information from letters and bills. At 4:48 p.m. an Ann Lees Road resident called to report suspicions about footprints in the snow around a house for sale, but police found no sign of an attempt to enter the house.
Friday, Dec. 10
At 4:44 p.m. a Bolton Road resident called to say a driver towing a horse trailer had stopped at her house and asked if she wanted to buy the trailer; when she said no, he asked again. When another family member joined her, the man drove off.
Saturday, Dec. 11
Shortly after 11 p.m. a power outage triggered burglar alarms, first at Hildreth Elementary School and, a few minutes later, at the Bromfield School. Police reset the alarms.
Sunday, Dec. 12
At 1:31 a.m. a Willard Lane resident called to say a car with its lights on was in the driveway and the road was impassable. The Department of Public Works was notified. At 3:02 a.m. police saw a tree had fallen near the intersection of Gebo Lane and Ayer Road, and an officer alerted the DPW.
Monday, Dec. 13
At 11:30 a.m. a 911 caller reported a gray dog along the side of Mass. Ave. The animal control officer was notified. At 12:32 p.m. police went to the Bromfield School about a juvenile incident. At 5:25 p.m. a Bolton Road resident called police to say their German shepherd puppy had run off; again the animal control officer was called. At 6:33 p.m. a driver hit a deer on Stow Road; the deer ran off and the driver went home.
