Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) statewide tournaments won’t begin until November, but Bromfield’s varsity squads, with the exception of golf and boys and girls cross-country, have spent the final two weeks of their regular season competing in first-of-their-kind Central Massachusetts Athletic Directors Association (CMADA) league championships.
The boys (11-2-1) and girls (10-1-1) soccer teams both won their quarterfinal CMADA matches and were preparing for semifinal games. The field hockey team (3-9-3) won its first-round match against No. 10 seeded Tahanto Regional High School but then lost its quarterfinal match two days later to number No. 2 Littleton High School.
The MIAA will announce within the next several days which of these three teams have qualified to compete in the association’s statewide tournaments.
Varsity golfers senior Adrian Curtis and sophomore Evan Piekos represented Bromfield at the MIAA Division 3 Central Division tournament last week where they both won places at the upcoming statewide MIAA Division 3 championship, now scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m., Nov. 2, at Shining Rock Golf Club in Northbridge.
The Press has been following six Bromfield varsity teams this fall: boys and girls cross-country, boys and girls soccer, field hockey, and golf—as well as the races of the Bromfield Acton-Boxborough boys and girls rowers.
