Hildreth House
Hildreth House is open for programs and events, although many are still being held on the porch. Face coverings are required in the building and on public and private transportation, including the COA and MART vans, and in health care facilities, regardless of vaccination status.
To sign up for any Council on Aging event or program (including to get a Zoom link), to reserve a seat on the COA van, or for more information, call 978-456-4120.
Ride the van
The COA van is available Saturday, Oct. 9, for the Flea Market and Saturday, Oct. 16, for Town Meeting. The van can either pick you up at home or shuttle you from the Hildreth House parking lot. Call the COA by 2 p.m. on the previous Thursday.
Flu clinic
Get your flu shot Tuesday, Oct. 19, 9-11 a.m. at Hildreth House. Go to nashoba.org to register, then come at the appointed time. Walk-ins accepted after appointments are finished. Call the COA if you need help registering, or need a ride.
Stress Reduction and Meditation Yoga
Join Barbara Rich, Wednesday, Oct. 27, 4 p.m for this class, which focuses on mindful breathing, easy stretching, and useful strategies for accepting who and where we are, with gentle breathing, leaning into our body-wisdom, and stretching toward resilience. Class will be on Zoom.
Balance and falls prevention
On Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1 p.m., join physical therapist Michael Chiauzzi for an interactive presentation on balance, rehabilitation, and fall prevention. This physical therapist at Nashoba Valley Medical Center will help us learn tips and tricks on how to keep ourselves safe in our homes, sharing important ideas on how we can keep ourselves upright. Call the COA for more information.
Free computers available
The COA has a few refurbished desktop and laptop computers that can be donated to a senior who needs one. There is also a working printer available. These have all been checked out by our computer volunteers and are ready for pickup. Call 978-456-4120 if you are interested in a free computer.
Explore your Medicare options
The annual Medicare open enrollment period, Oct. 15-Dec. 7, is the best time of year to compare plans, costs, and new benefits. Come to Hildreth House on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 10 a.m. to discuss your health insurance options with a counselor from SHINE (Serving the Health Information Needs of Elders). Call the COA to schedule an appointment.
