In the past week, police made four motor vehicle stops, two resulting in verbal warnings and two in written warnings or citations. They also assisted a person who was locked out of a vehicle, issued or renewed a firearm license, and responded to two false burglar alarms. The Ambulance Service received five emergency medical calls and took three people to area hospitals, one with Advanced Life Support services on board; two people refused transport.
Tuesday, Oct. 5
At 9:08 a.m. a caller told police a large construction truck was blocking Mass. Ave. in front of the elementary school; an officer directed traffic while the truck driver finished loading heavy equipment onto the vehicle. At 9:59 a.m. an officer filed a report for an Oak Hill Road resident whose investment account had been hacked, leading to the theft of a substantial sum. At 3:17 p.m. someone turned in a small silver cross found on Lancaster County Road; it is still at the police station.
Wednesday, Oct. 6
At 11:08 a.m. a caller complained about a National Grid truck that was blocking a driveway; the truck was moved. At 11:11 a.m. someone came to the police station to report charges made to a credit account fraudulently opened in the resident’s name. At 4:54 p.m. a Brown Road resident called to report a reddish-brown, long-haired dog in the yard.
Thursday, Oct. 7
At 9:41 p.m. an Under Pin Hill Road resident called, saying she had heard a shot and cars were racing up and down Depot Road.
Friday, Oct. 8
Nothing significant to report.
Saturday, Oct. 9
At 1:30 a.m. someone called 911 because a tree had fallen on the electric lines on Tahanto Trail; National Grid was notified. At 9:44 a.m. an Ayer Road resident reported that someone was engaged in illegal dumping on a neighbor’s property, but police found that the dump truck was legally filling in a pool excavation. At 10:13 a.m. a resident came to the police station about a case of online fraud. At 8:16 p.m. a 911 caller said a car had struck a deer on Ayer Road; the deer was killed, and the car required a tow.
Sunday, Oct. 10
At 12:35 p.m. a caller reported someone was repeatedly taking the signs that direct traffic on Oak Hill Road and throwing them into the woods. At 8:57 p.m. a Pine Hill Way resident said a bus had been parked in the road for some time with its engine running, but the bus was gone when police arrived.
Monday, Oct. 11
At 11:26 a.m. a Still River Road resident told police a neighbor’s pig and two goats were digging up his yard and making a general mess; police notified the animals’ owner to take the livestock home. At 8:13 p.m. a caller from Under Pin Hill Road said someone seemed to be shining lights into the windows; police found nothing amiss.
