Town center trick-or-treating
This year’s trick-or-treating will be held Sunday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the town center.
Halloween candy donations are still needed. All candy for this traditional Halloween event comes from residents’ donations. Candy can be dropped off in the box at the Public Safety Building lobby, 40 Ayer Road. The Harvard Police Department will organize the distribution of treats to participating households. Last day to drop off candy is Friday, Oct. 29.

Dispose of unwanted medications
The Harvard Police Department participated in the 21st National Prescription Drug Take Back Day last Saturday, a program that offers free, anonymous disposal of unneeded medications at more than 4,000 local drop-off locations nationwide. Since 2013 Harvard has turned in 1,200 pounds of unneeded medications, according to Patricia Natoli of the Harvard Police Department.
You can bring medications for disposal at any time to the kiosk in the lobby of the Public Safety Building, 40 Ayer Road. For more information, call (978) 456-8276.
Special Town Election is Nov. 2
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 2. In-person voting will be at the Bromfield School cafeteria, 14 Mass. Ave., from 3 to 8 p.m. Early in-person voting is not available for this election. Previously requested mail-in ballots must be received at Town Hall by 8 p.m. on Nov. 2, whether by mail or in the Town Hall dropbox near the front door.

Invasive lanternfly alert
The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources announced that a small population of the invasive spotted lanternfly has been found in Fitchburg. The spotted lanternfly is a destructive sap-feeding insect that attacks many different trees, shrubs, and vines, and it has the potential to affect many agricultural commodities, including apples, peaches, grapes, hops, maple syrup, wine, beer, and ornamental plants.
HAA basketball registration open
Registration is now open for Harvard Athletic Association’s basketball programs for all Harvard boys and girls, kindergarten through ninth grade, for the 2021-2022 season. Register by Nov. 3 and learn more at www.harvardbasket ball.org.

Food pantry open for drive-thru pickup
The Loaves & Fishes food pantry, 234 Barnum Road, Devens, serves residents of Harvard, Ayer, Dunstable, Devens, Groton, Littleton, and Shirley. It will be open for drive-thru access Oct. 29, and Nov. 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 20, and 24, 9 a.m. to noon. Community Harvest Project needs volunteers
Community Harvest Project, 37 Wheeler Road, North Grafton, is looking for volunteers to help pull the final plastic rows from the fields. Get some dirt on your hands and come away with a great sense of accomplishment.
