During the week, firefighters responded to seven vehicle crashes on Route 2 and Interstate 495. They provided scene safety and cleaned up fluids where necessary.
Tuesday, Sept. 28
At 10:09 a.m. a Westcott Road resident called because an alarm in the home was sounding; a fire officer found that someone had started a car before opening the garage door, which had triggered the carbon monoxide detector. At 3:05 p.m. someone on Myrick Lane reported a burning smell in the basement; the smell turned out to come from the ballast in a burned-out fluorescent light.
Friday, Oct. 1
At 7:24 a.m. a mutual aid call took the Harvard tanker and Engine 4 to a house fire on White Pond Road in Lancaster; the fire was quickly brought under control, and the Harvard firefighters headed home in about half an hour.
