Wednesday, Oct. 13
At 4:02 p.m. the Fire Department received a report of smoke near the intersection of Lancaster County and Blanchard roads. The duty officer found someone burning brush illegally and ordered the fire put out. At 7:55 p.m. firefighters were called to help the Westminster Fire Department. A vehicle was submerged in water there, and the driver’s whereabouts were unclear. Three Harvard firefighters took the boat out to help the Westminster dive team at the scene. Meanwhile the missing driver had been located in the nearby woods.
Thursday, Oct. 14
At 1:43 a.m. a Warren Avenue resident called 911 to say the home’s fire alarms were sounding and the house smelled of smoke. Nineteen firefighters responded with three engines, the tower truck, and the tanker. They found no smoke and no signs of fire or heat.
Friday, Oct. 15
At 6:40 a.m. a 911 caller reported an alarm sounding at a Mill Road residence. The duty officer investigated and determined the detector was faulty.
Saturday, Oct. 16
At 11:09 p.m. a caller reported a minor collision on Interstate 495 southbound; Engine 2 went to the scene and helped Boxborough firefighters.
Monday, Oct. 18
At 11:58 a.m. an alarm sounded at a Bolton Road home; the duty officer checked and found the detector needed a new battery and a cleaning. At 6:04 p.m. firefighters spotted an illegal, unattended fire in a backyard on Bolton Road; they told the owner to extinguish the fire.
