Harvard resident, devoted son, graduate of Immaculate Heart of Mary High School

Joseph M. Anderson, 25, of Harvard, died unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, Aug. 25, 2021.
Born on Feb. 18, 1996, Joseph was the son of the late Marc E. Anderson and Sheila (Ste. Marie) Anderson.
Before Joseph was born, his father and mother moved to Still River to raise their children as traditional Roman Catholics with St. Benedict Center in Still River.
He was the oldest son of four children. At the early age of two, Joseph could recite the St. Michael’s prayer. He attended The Immaculate Heart of Mary School from first grade and graduated from there. An altar boy from grades 7 to12 and a drumline player in the school’s marching band, he played baseball for the IHM Eagles baseball team.
His love was for his family and extended families of uncles, aunts, and cousins and his friends. Many family gatherings were held at his home, and large camping trips every year were one of his favorite times. Always welcoming with a big smile and hug and willing to help at a moment’s notice, he was best friend to his beloved brother Patrick and a protecting brother to his two sisters, Mary and Maria. His cat Maddie was a devoted feline as she sat on him and slept.
Joseph’s major job was as a chimney sweeper, and he did many other odd jobs for the last five years. A devoted son to his mom, he was always there when she needed him. He will be missed sorely.
In addition to his father, Joseph was predeceased by his grandfathers Warren Anderson on his dad’s side and Francis Ste. Marie and grandmother Edith Ste. Marie on his mother’s side.
Joseph is lovingly survived by his mother, Sheila (Ste. Marie) Anderson of Harvard; his siblings, Mary Anne Edith Anderson, Joseph Patrick Anderson, and Maria Angelina Anderson; his last remaining grandparent Nancy C. (Knox) Anderson, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m., in Saint Benedict Center, Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel.
Burial was held in Bellevue Cemetery, Harvard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph’s memory to St. Benedict Center or the charity of your choice.
