By the Numbers: COVID-19 update, 8/20/21

While the state reported no new COVID-19 cases in Harvard for the weeks between June 29 and July 22, there was one new case reported on July 29, and four new cases were reported Aug. 5. The town’s cumulative number of confirmed cases as of Aug. 12 was 146. The number of COVID-19 cases in the state continued to rise over the week between Aug.10 and Aug. 17, as did the number of hospitalizations and deaths.

According to the state’s weekly town-by-town vaccination report, the number of residents in Harvard who were fully vaccinated as of Aug. 12 was 3,949, up from 3,861 on July 1. Another 305 had received one dose of a two-dose vaccine. Using the town clerk’s April population total of 5,502, the percentage of fully vaccinated Harvard residents as of Aug. 12 was about 72%, with about another 6% partially vaccinated. These numbers do not include Devens residents or inmates at the Federal Medical Center in Devens.
