Leave Whitman Road forest for hiking, snowshoeing, bird-watching

July 1, 2021

Thank you to Michael Kilian for sharing thoughts about the use of land for a pump track. I agree and feel the need to express some of my frustration regarding this matter. It’s great to maintain trails and meadows, but why the fascination with developing undisturbed, town-owned land for a pump track or more town beach parking? Aside from the costs of development there is a disrespect to the land and wildlife. Many people like the quiet endeavors of hiking and bird-watching along with swimming and kayaking in a small and quaint setting.

Michael Kilian’s request of the Parks and Recreation Commission to find land already impacted by development for a new recreational facility is reasonable and will hopefully be given serious consideration.
