Harvard Public Library reopens fully June 17
The library reopens to walk-in visitors, no appointment required, with its normal hours, Thursday, June 17. Masks are still required at all times for anyone who is under the age of 12 and for anyone who is unvaccinated. Masks are also required for all who enter the Children’s Room, regardless of age or vaccination status.
Curbside and lobby pickup for those who have checked out books online or over the phone will continue “for the foreseeable future,” according to Library Director Mary Wilson.
New hours at Transfer Station begin July 1
Department of Public Works Director Tim Kilhart reports that due to budget cuts, hours at the Transfer Station will be reduced by one hour each day. Starting July 1, hours will be Wednesday, 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dates of note
- Starting June 20, the town beach will be open full time, with lifeguards on duty from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and sticker-checkers on duty from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- June 22 is the last day to buy Transfer Station stickers online if you want to have them by July 1.
- June 26 (at 7:30 a.m.) is the last day to register for the Bare Hill Duathlon; see Current Events for details.
- On July 4, festivities will begin with bike decorating at 10 a.m. and the parade at 11 a.m. Post-parade events will end at 3 p.m. Fireworks are canceled for this year.
- July 5 begins the first two-week session of swimming and boating lessons at Bare Hill Pond. Sessions end Aug. 7.
- The July 9 issue of the Harvard Press will be its last before summer break. The Press will resume publication with its Aug. 20 issue.
Devens noise report
The weapons training schedule for U.S. Army reserve forces at Devens is as follows. Questions should be directed to the Department of Defense Police at 978-796-3333.

Loaves & Fishes
The food pantry, 234 Barnum Road, Devens, will offer drive-thru access from 9 a.m. to noon June 23, 25, and 30. To volunteer at the pantry, go to loavesfishespantry.org.
Devens vaccination clinic is open
A COVID-19 vaccination clinic is now open at Devens and is available to anyone who lives, works, or studies in the state. The clinic is located at Clear Path for Veterans New England, 84 Antietam Street. To see when walk-in clinics are scheduled, to get an appointment, and to see which COVID-19 vaccine is available (it varies), go to vaxfinder.mass.gov, search for 01434 (Devens ZIP code), and follow the links.
According to the state’s website, mass.gov, the Devens clinic currently offers the one-dose Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine, which is allowed for anyone 18 years and older.
