The Harvard Select Board’s behavior last week needs to be condemned on two counts.
The treatment of Town Administrator Bragan was exceptionally poor. Mr. Bragan has been unfailingly polite both to my husband and to me at all times. If a concern had arisen, it should have been privately addressed at the time and Mr. Bragan should have been given the opportunity to respond to the concern from his point of view. If nothing else, the board should consider the cost of the pension if Mr. Bragan retires. Then there will be the next person’s salary. Suggestion: each member of the board be required to pass Management 101.
What part of “no” does the board not understand? Town Meeting said “no” to yet another Ayer Road study. It did not say, “Find another fund for the study.” I’d like to see an accounting for all the money spent on “studies” in the past 20 years. And stop planning on hooking a sewer line to Devens. Do not remove precious groundwater from Harvard.
