Harvard Celebration Inc. would like to thank everyone who helped to make possible the recent ‘Fun Fair Well’—a modified version of the traditional post-prom substance-free event.
With the help of many—including the town, which graciously allowed use of its and Lions Club town meeting tents—we were able to give Bromfield’s Class of 2021 close to a traditional Celebration, still in a safe environment (including Dezerae Rodriguez from the Harvard Fire Department, who monitored the event). The kids had a ball playing yard games, visiting the casino (Dennis Bradley and his crew of Bob Thurston, Bill McHugh, Larry Miller, and Phil Robinson deserve a special shout-out for many years of support), getting henna tattoos (thanks to Suraiya Suliman, Kelly O’Shea, and Elizabeth Wilkey), having a tarot card reading by Melissa Mazzu, getting a caricature done, eating lots of great (individually packaged) food, or simply hanging out as a class.
Our business and food donors provided a financial boost to make the event possible. Our ad in this week’s Press recognizes those donors; please consider them for any needs you may have.
And, of course, the army of volunteers who pulled the event together with only five weeks of planning and five hours of setup. There are too many to name here—you know who you are—please know that you are appreciated very much.
A grant from the Worcester County district attorney helped us fund a presentation by Kathi and Chris Sullivan of Sullivan’s Message. Their messages about the importance of safe choices and asking for help were delivered to the Class of 2021 on Friday, May 21, with positive feedback.
As we look to close the book on our 2021 season, which will end with a giveaway at the senior car parade, we realize that many in our group have seniors who are graduating, and we need to rebuild the Celebration team for 2022 and beyond.
