The Bromfield girls track and field team claimed its second win of the season May 13, beating Clinton High School 83-57. The boys lost 86-59. Both teams are coming off a shortened “indoor” track season of four dual meets and no postseason competition.

Molly Squire swept up big points for her team on both the track and the field Thursday. The sophomore took first in the shot put and discus, throwing 24 feet, 5 inches, and 76 feet, respectively. She then placed second in the 400-meter dash in 1 minute, 8.6 seconds, before finishing out the day as a leg of the winning 4×400-meter relay team alongside eighth-grader Emma Squire, freshman Arpi Mirzabegian, and senior Hannah Beckman.

Also performing on the field was senior Claire Stoddard, who took first in the long jump (15 feet, 3.5 inches) and the triple jump (32 feet). Senior Lauren Walling-Sotolongo was second in the shot put (23 feet, 1.5 inches) and senior Allie Donahue was second in the discus (61 feet, 10 inches). vs. Tyngsborough

Bromfield began its competitive season May 6 with a home meet against Tyngsborough High School. Both teams started out with a win, the girls taking down the Tigers 74-66 and the boys finishing ahead 86-58.

Stoddard was a great asset to the girls team, winning the long jump (15 feet, 10.5 inches), the triple jump (31 feet, 11 inches), and the 400 hurdles (75.3). Eang Lee contributed a hefty share of points as well, winning the 100 (14.10) and taking second in both the 200 (29.2) and the high jump (4 feet, 2 inches).

On the boys side, Harte enjoyed a sampling of events and excelled in all. He took first in the 100 (11.4) and long jump (19 feet, 1 inch); entertained spectators with a close finish in the 200, finishing a hair behind Colon (23.3) in 23.9 seconds; and accepting third in the triple jump (35 feet, 11 inches). Likewise, Morrison picked up first in three events: pole vault (9 feet, 6 inches), 400 hurdles (71.9), and 110 hurdles (17.3). He rounded out his day with third in discus, throwing 84 feet, 6.5 inches.

The girls won the 4×400 in 4:40 but fell to the Tigers by 8 seconds in the 4×100. The boys won both relays, running 3:56.7 in the 4×400 and 51 seconds in the 4×100.

Both varsity teams were scheduled to race again at Gardner High School May 19, and Bromfield was scheduled to host Groton-Dunstable for a middle-
