My family fell in love with Harvard before relocating from Acton. We wanted a homier, agriculturally aware, nature-oriented community. My wife says, “My heart feels at peace in Harvard.” Harvard has this daytime “hum” of joy, friendliness, and waving neighbors, but its evenings are dark and soothing. It took over three years, but we found our forever home in 2019, an antique farmhouse with land to work.
We settled in the area while I was a captain, Security Forces, at Hanscom Air Force Base. My duties included representing Pentagon policies and directives in the execution of contracts, requests for proposals, and procurement as part of large technology programs. Prior to that we had lived in Louisiana, where I commanded teams with varied backgrounds in the protection of the base, providing management of our on-duty law enforcement, ensuring defense of hundreds of nuclear warheads, overseeing game warden activities for a 20,000-acre federal reserve, and ultimately deploying to Operation Enduring Freedom as the base’s chief of anti-terrorism.
After transitioning out of the military while in Massachusetts, I moved into defense contractor work, developing engineering requirements and specifications, and seeing them through the installation and commissioning of advanced electronic systems. After that, I co-founded a venture-backed software startup as its product and technical team leader. After the Great Recession, I used the opportunity to transition myself into people-facing roles as a business development executive with aerospace and defense Fortune 100s-500s. I now lead software as a service deployments and networking installations for commercial customers and governments, improving the security and flow of trade and commerce worldwide through technology.
As a Select Board candidate, I will champion inclusion and coordination between our committees/volunteers. I bring no self-serving interests—I don’t own a business in town. My focus will be serving you. You will simply be on my mind in making certain I do my part to conserve the joy and beauty that make Harvard unique, listening and working with fellow citizens and volunteers. I will be a humble leader for your interests and to do my part to “Keep the Heart of Harvard!”
