In the past week, emergency responders received three medical calls. Two people required ambulance transport to a hospital; one person needed a lift assist. Police also responded to five false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Jan. 26
t 9:48 a.m. someone on Myrick Lane called about a raccoon that appeared sick, possibly rabid; an officer shot the animal. At 4:38 p.m. a caller reported a truck had slid off Littleton Road near town center and struck some trees, badly damaging the front end of the truck; the driver left the scene. At 8:46 p.m. an officer saw that a car had hit a street sign at the intersection of Westcott and Stow roads. While the damage to the vehicle was minor, the DPW will likely seek reimbursement for a new sign.
Wednesday, Jan. 27
At 9:17 a.m. an Ann Lees Road resident reported getting a tax statement showing she had been paid about $3,500 in unemployment compensation, which she had neither applied for nor received; the person who stole the resident’s identify to file the fraudulent claim can be charged with a felony because the amount is over $1,200. At 3:25 p.m. someone on Woodside Road reported an all-terrain vehicle in the woods, possibly on private land or conservation land; the ATV was gone when police arrived. At 9:33 p.m. the late hour led a caller to report a vehicle parked at conservation land on Murray Lane, but an officer found nothing amiss. At 10:53 p.m. police alerted the DPW to start sanding because roads were becoming slick.
Thursday, Jan. 28
At 9:12 a.m. someone called from Hildreth Elementary School to say two people were stuck in the elevator, but the problem had been resolved before police arrived; Officer Dusty came to the school with her partner in case anyone needed reassurance.
Friday, Jan. 29

Saturday, Jan. 30
At 7:35 p.m. a caller told police someone was changing a flat tire in a dangerous location on Ayer Road, which had led to a shouting match between the tire-changer and another driver. A few minutes later, a 911 caller reported a man standing on the side of Ayer Road, flagging passing cars to slow down. Police gave a lift to the driver of the disabled vehicle.
Sunday, Jan. 31

Monday, Feb. 1
At 10 a.m. Littleton police requested assistance with a collision on Route 2 westbound, but the call was quickly canceled as Littleton was able to deal with the problem. At 9:01 p.m. someone reported a car on West Bare Hill Road had struck a utility pole, causing a power outage. The driver fled the scene, leaving behind a badly damaged car that needed a tow. A National Grid repair crew was already nearby and went to work promptly to restore power.
