Loaves & Fishes will offer drive-thru pantry access Dec. 23 and 30, from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be a special holiday dinner distribution Monday, Dec. 21, 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m.
Snow and ice removal bylaws
Harvard’s Department of Public Works (DPW) reminds residents that there are two town bylaws about snow and ice removal and to make sure their plow personnel are aware of them. Contact DPW Director Tim Kilhart at 978-456-4130 or tkilhart@harvard.ma.us with any questions.
Snow and ice must not be pushed on, over, or across a public way so as to impede the flow of traffic. Also, snow and ice must not be pushed onto a sidewalk so as to impede pedestrian traffic. Violation of this bylaw will result in a fine.
Vehicles must not be placed on a public way so as to hinder DPW’s snow and ice removal operations. DPW personnel may remove any vehicle interfering with such work.
Emerson Green housing lottery information
Emerson Green is a new housing development located on Grant Road or Marshall Street in Devens. The development includes seven affordable two- and three-bedroom single family homes, duplexes, or triplexes, available by lottery to eligible buyers earning up to 100% of the area’s median income. Emergency help with rent and mortgage payments
At Fall Town Meeting, Harvard voted to transfer money from the Community Preservation Fund to the Harvard Municipal Affordable Housing Trust Fund for emergency rental or mortgage assistance for Harvard residents. If you or someone you know is having difficulties paying housing expenses, please call the COA at 978-456-4120 or the office of Community and Economic Development at 978-456-4100, ext. 323.
Town Hall open by appointment only
Town Administrator Tim Bragan told the Select Board that COVID-19 cases among town employees are increasing. As a result, Town Hall is now open only by appointment. Contact Town Hall at 978-456-4100 for more information.
Residential development survey
All residents are encouraged to take a short survey designed to gather information on what is desirable or undesirable related to residential development in Harvard. Sand buckets for winter weather
The town will deliver a bucket of sand to any older resident who asks for it. To request sand, call the Council on Aging at 978-456-4120.
High-dose flu vaccine available for ages 65+
Nashoba Associated Boards of Health has a limited supply of high-dose flu vaccine for ages 65 and older. If you still need a flu shot, call 978-772-3335 ext. 357 to schedule an appointment.
Scammers are pretending to be contact tracers
The Department of Public Health (DPH) has received complaints that scammers are now pretending to be contact tracers. Please be advised that contact tracers will NOT ask for your Social Security number or health insurance information. If you get such a call, please report it to the Harvard Board of Health or Chief of Police Ed Denmark. This information will be forwarded to the attorney general’s office, which is actively tracking and prosecuting such calls.
