The Bromfield Trojans shut out the Division 1 Nashoba Regional Chieftains 2-0 in a home game played Saturday at Harvard Park on a summerlike November afternoon.
Bromfield scored its first goal in the first half on a deep free kick by senior Alex Jorgensen that sophomore Liam Morrison redirected past the Nashoba goalkeeper to give Bromfield a 1-0 lead. In the second half, senior Dylan Winchell played a ball into the Nashoba penalty box that junior Amlyl Aitdowd slipped into the back of the net to raise the final score to 2-0.
“It was a great win,” said coach Alex Horne. “We finally came together as a team. We were riddled with injuries, with three starters on the bench, but everyone stepped up and contributed.”
“We dedicated Saturday to our seniors,” Horne told the Press in an email. “You could tell they were all playing for something.”
The Trojans narrowly lost their first matchup with Nashoba 1-0 on Oct. 20. Following Saturday’s game, the Trojans’ record in their five-team pod stood at 4-4-1. The team was scheduled to play Maynard on Nov. 12 and Hudson on Nov. 13.
