In the past week, police made one motor vehicle stop, resulting in a verbal warning. They also helped someone with a disabled motor vehicle. Emergency responders received seven medical calls, with four people needing transport to a hospital, two with Advanced Life Support services in attendance. One person initially refused transport but needed to go to the hospital shortly thereafter. Two other medical calls proved to be false alarms, and there were also three false burglar alarms. Police issued or renewed five firearms licenses.
Tuesday, Sept. 8
At 9:27 a.m. police received an automatic 911 alert about a vehicle accident on Stow Road; an officer searched the area, but the vehicle had left. At 4:34 p.m. a Tahanto Trail resident reported some money missing from her house; the incident is under investigation. At 5:11 p.m. someone called about a dog loose on East Bare Hill Road, and the animal control officer was notified. At 6:30 p.m. a 911 caller told police someone was driving south on Ayer Road with a flat tire. An officer found that the driver, Henry Moses of Leominster, age 56, appeared intoxicated and arrested him for negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating under the influence of alcohol.
Wednesday, Sept. 9
At 4:45 a.m. a caller reported two horses were loose on Slough Road; they were eventually returned to their West Bare Hill Road stable. At 2:18 p.m. Ayer police requested Harvard’s assistance in dispersing some people involved in a verbal dispute.
Thursday, Sept. 10
At 7:10 p.m. police notified a Wilroy Avenue resident of the death of a relative.
Friday, Sept. 11
At 2:28 p.m. a Codman Hill Road resident reported a false unemployment claim had been filed in his name. At 6:40 p.m. a caller reported suspicious activity on Littleton County Road near the entrance to the Harvard Sportsmen’s Club; an officer searched the area but found nothing amiss.
Saturday, Sept. 12
At 2:29 a.m. police responded to a 911 call after a residential burglar alarm was activated on Prospect Hill Road. They found a door had popped open, triggering the alarm. At 8:42 a.m. a resident came to the station to report a fraudulent application for a small business loan had been filed in their name. At 10:29 a.m. a person called to document a previous break-in at the Shaker herb barn on Shaker Road. Someone had entered the barn and made a fire in the fireplace; two windows were also broken, possibly at a different time. At 1:28 p.m. an Oak Hill Road resident called with a complaint about cars turning in their driveway. At 2:36 p.m. Ayer police notified Harvard about an erratic driver headed south on Ayer Road. At 5:33 p.m. a caller told police a stop sign had been knocked down at the intersection of Warren Avenue and Tahanto Trail; the Department of Public Works put up a temporary sign.
Sunday, Sept. 13
At 4:46 a.m. a Prospect Hill Road resident called about a group of people and some noisy motorcycles at the entrance to Fruitlands; they were gone when police arrived. At 6:51 p.m. someone called 911 to report a car had struck a deer on Prospect Hill Road; an officer found the injured deer and put it down.
Monday, Sept. 14
At 3:24 p.m. another resident reported their identity had been used to file a fraudulent application for a small business loan. At 3:46 p.m. someone on Shaker Road called about chickens that had invaded their backyard, and the animal control officer was notified. At 5:32 p.m. an Ann Lees Road resident called with concerns about an elderly relative who was driving; Harvard police referred the matter to the state police to be on the lookout for the driver.
