In the past week, police made one motor vehicle stop, which resulted in a written warning. They also dealt with five false burglary alarms and issued or renewed four firearms licenses. Emergency responders received four medical calls, all of which required ambulance transport to a hospital, one with Advanced Life Support services in attendance. There were also two requests for well-being checks.
Tuesday, Aug. 25
At 9:36 a.m. a business owner on Ayer Road called to say someone had apparently tried to break into his barn with a crowbar during the night, but nothing had been taken; the case is under investigation. At 11:21 a.m. a 911 caller reported a tree down across Warren Avenue, and the Department of Public Works was informed. A Lovers Lane resident called at 1:03 p.m. because someone had fraudulently filed an unemployment claim in the resident’s name; the issue was referred to a state agency. At 11:09 p.m. someone called 911 with a complaint about two young people with flashlights at Thurston’s Beach; the pair was gone when police arrived.
Wednesday, Aug. 26
At 12:41 p.m. Ayer police called to say a highly intoxicated man had left the cannabis dispensary there and was driving toward the rotary. Harvard police searched the area but did not locate the vehicle. At 12:55 p.m. a person came to the station to discuss a case of harassment. At 1:08 p.m. a tree was reported blocking the road through Shaker Village, and the DPW was informed. At 6:56 p.m. an Eldridge Road resident reported a fraud related to a payment he had made through his Venmo app.
Thursday, Aug. 27
The day began with a 7:46 a.m. report of trees and power lines down on Old Littleton Road; the DPW was called. At 9:16 a.m. someone called to say several cars were illegally parked on Pond Road and he had heard loud gunshots in the area. On checking, police found the cars were legally parked and belonged to construction workers at the elementary school; officers concluded that the gunshots were probably from Devens. At 11:51 a.m. a caller reported suspicions about someone who had been looking into mailboxes on Slough Road earlier in the morning, but too much time had elapsed for police to locate the person.
Friday, Aug. 28
At 5:57 p.m. a Mill Road resident told police the family dog was missing. The officer helped search for the pet and located it at a neighbor’s house.
Saturday, Aug. 29
At 11:45 a.m. Harvard fire and ambulance squads were called out to deal with a car crash on Route 2 eastbound, but no one needed transport to a hospital; state police had jurisdiction over the crash.
Sunday, Aug. 30
At 6:45 a.m. police received a report of a tree down on Craggs Road and informed the DPW. At 10:43 a.m. a caller said the business signs on Brown Road for a construction company had been ripped up. At 9:50 p.m. someone called to complain about loud music near Ayer Road, but police searched the area and found no disturbance.
Monday, Aug. 31
At 11:11 a.m. police received a radio report that an 18-wheeler had struck a stone wall on Littleton County Road. The truck was able to drive off, but the wall was damaged. At 8:54 p.m. a Bolton resident called to report a string of vandalized mailboxes that stretched into Harvard from Drumlin Hill Road in Bolton.
