I urge everyone to vote for Cary Browse’s candidacy for the Harvard Public Library board of trustees in the June 23 election. Cary loves Harvard and was a friendly face who accepted my bill payments in Town Hall for a number of years. I worked with Cary on Harvard Unitarian Church committees and as a youth group leader. She’s passionate and honest and is a well-organized and effective leader when a large project needs planning and process development. In the time of the COVID-19 crisis, when organizations must develop internal processes that reflect and respond to mandated social distancing guidelines, I feel Cary will be an insightful resource on the library board of trustees, capable of helping develop urgently needed processes that enable us to return to our library and enjoy its many offerings and vantage points.
Cary has a lifelong commitment to libraries. With a master’s degree in library science and corporate library work experience, her knowledge base is broad. She was a co-chair of the public fundraising committee for our town’s ambitious library move to the old Bromfield School, which required a substantial investment from the Harvard community. Her assistance in that project was invaluable. The upcoming board will have much work to complete to keep our treasured library functioning in these turbulent times. I firmly believe Cary will be a needed guide and resource, committed to do the right thing for our town and our library.
