In the past week, police issued two parking citations for vehicles in town areas that are currently closed and responded to three false burglar alarms. Emergency responders received six medical calls. Four calls required ambulance transport, of which three had Advanced Life Support services in attendance; one was for a person who needed a lift assist; and one was a false alarm.
Tuesday, April 28
At 12:19 a.m. Bolton police called Harvard to say that a Harvard driver had struck a tree on Golden Run Road in Bolton and then left the scene. Harvard police located the resident, who was charged with a marked lane violation by Bolton.
Wednesday, April 29
At 6:35 a.m. a state trooper on Ayer Road came across a car that had gone off the road and struck a rock, injuring the car’s occupant. The trooper radioed Harvard police, and the ambulance took the injured person to the hospital. At 3:53 p.m. a resident reported a parked construction vehicle blocking a stop sign from view at the town center intersection; police had the vehicle moved. At 4:58 p.m. a caller told police that a bicyclist in a bright yellow shirt had relieved himself in the bushes near the General Store; police checked the area but did not find the offender. At 5:26 p.m. a Bowers Brook Apartments resident called to say that someone was walking a dog in an area that is currently closed, but the dog-walker was gone when police arrived.
Thursday, April 30
At 7:50 p.m. an officer noticed an unoccupied car with its lights on at Hillside Garage; the vehicle was unlocked, so the officer turned off the lights and locked it.
Friday, May 1
At 7:23 p.m. an officer found the fence cut at the cell tower on Pinnacle Road by the Oak Ridge Observatory. The matter was referred to state police in case it is related to similar property damage in Oxford, committed by people calling themselves “sovereign citizens,” who do not consider themselves subject to most laws.
Saturday, May 2
At 8:30 p.m. police received a phone call about a group of people hanging out in the parking lot of the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge on Still River Depot Road. Police found four cars parked there and asked three drivers to move on; the fourth car was unregistered and was towed away.
Sunday, May 3
At 3:54 a.m. a Woodside Road resident called because a family member believed there was an intruder with a knife in the house; police found no sign of an intruder and concluded the person had experienced a vivid nightmare. At 5:42 p.m. someone called with suspicions about a pickup truck parked on Turner Lane, but police found nothing amiss. At 7:36 p.m. a Woodside Road resident reported seeing a bear in the yard.
Monday, May 4
At 7:31 p.m. a resident reported a couple of young people playing loud music on Prospect Hill Road; they were gone when police arrived
