Apply for an absentee ballot or an “Early Voting by Mail” ballot for the June 2 Special State Election and/or the June 23 Town Election. You can also request an absentee ballot for all elections in 2020.

Nomination papers for Town Election due May 14
The deadline for candidates running in the June 23 Town Election to submit nomination papers for certification is Thursday, May 14, at 5 p.m. For more details contact Town Clerk Marlene Kenney at mkenney@harvard.ma.us.
Beware of scammers posing as contact tracers
In an email to the Press, Harvard Board of Health member Sharon McCarthy said that the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has warned that scammers are pretending to be contact tracers. “Please be advised that contact tracers will not ask for your Social Security number or health insurance information,” McCarthy wrote. “If you get such a call, please report it to the Board of Health or Harvard Police Chief Ed Denmark. This information will be forwarded to the Attorney General’s office, which is actively tracking and prosecuting such calls.”
Comments due May 22 on expanded hunting at wildlife refuges
The office of the Eastern Massachusetts National Wildlife Refuge requests public input on measures to expand hunting in the Assabet River, Great Meadows, and Oxbow national wildlife refuges.
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service proposes the following hunting expansions:
- Expand opportunities for big game, upland game, and migratory bird hunting on refuge lands at all three refuges
- Open 123 additional acres to hunting at the Assabet River refuge
- Open 778 additional acres to hunting at the Great Meadows refuge
- Open 128 additional acres to hunting at the Oxbow refuge
- Provide opportunities for mentored, veteran, and youth specialized hunts at the Assabet River refuge

To offer feedback on the proposed changes to hunting at the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge, submit written comments by mail (Attn: Hunt Plan, Eastern Massachusetts National Wildlife Refuge, 73 Weir Hill Road, Sudbury, MA 01776) or email fw5rw_emnwr@fws.gov. The deadline for comments has been extended to May 22 to allow for a 70-day feedback period. Letters must be postmarked by this deadline.
Clothing drive for Camp Sunshine
The annual clothing drive to benefit Camp Sunshine and the Epilepsy Foundation will last until May 15. All clothing items as well as shoes, backpacks, purses, fabric, sheets, blankets, and comforters will be accepted. Put items in bags and drop off at one of these locations:
- St. Theresa’s Church, at the ramp at the side of the building
- Hildreth House, on the front porch
- Public Library, outside the front door
For every pound of clothing collected, the Epilepsy Foundation donates $0.20 to Camp Sunshine, a camp in Casco, Maine, for children facing life-threatening illnesses and their families.
