Paul Correnty, AKA Chef Paul, was celebrated in an all-school assembly at Bromfield Thursday, Feb. 27 as this year’s recipient of the Humanitarian Award given by the District 33A Lions.
Harvard Lions Club member Heidi Siegrist read the nomination she had written to the district extolling the myriad humanitarian acts Correnty has performed in the school and in the general community of Harvard over the years. She described how he created an outstanding lunch program at Bromfield, where he makes every student feel they matter. She added that he is equally supportive of Harvard’s senior population with his sales of Soup for Seniors, a special lunch at the school, and distribution of soup to the homebound. And in times of crisis, with Bromfield as a shelter, Correnty has tirelessly provided meals and good cheer.
Siegrist said that for at least 15 years Correnty has “been there” for the Lions fundraising events, contributing in whatever way he was able through his skills, resources, and generosity.
In closing she said that Chef Paul embraces the mission of the Lions … “to make a difference in your community … through acts of kindness, both large and small, which touch the lives of the people we serve.”
Lions Club President Chris Ryan presented a plaque to Correnty, who said he was honored and surprised, adding that he never even knew the award existed.
