In the past week, police made seven motor vehicle stops, four resulting in verbal warnings and two in written warnings or citations. They also issued three parking tickets and assisted with two disabled motor vehicles. The Ambulance Service responded to six medical emergencies; three resulted in taking someone to a hospital, and three proved to be false alarms. Officers responded to eight false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Feb. 4

Wednesday, Feb. 5
At 8:40 a.m. a caller reported a two-car crash on Bolton Road. One person was injured and taken by ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. At 10:56 a.m. a woman came to the station to say an unfamiliar car had been parked in her Old Littleton Road driveway but had since left. At 1:25 p.m. a West Bare Hill Road resident called with suspicions about a black BMW that had been parked in the street for a few hours. The car had left the area when police arrived. At 7:11 p.m. a parent from Old Meadow Lane called to say his son’s headphones had been stolen at school.
Thursday, Feb. 6
At 3:20 a.m. an officer notified the Department of Public Works that the roads were becoming icy and should be sanded. At 7:30 a.m. someone came to the station to report that a wood chipper had been stolen from an Ayer Road business. The slick roads led to a car crash on Route 2 westbound at 9:41 a.m. A few minutes later, at 9:44 a.m., a 911 caller said a car had gone off Bolton Road and struck a stone wall; no one was injured, but the car was towed.
Friday, Feb. 7
Night again brought slippery roads, with an officer alerting the DPW at 12:03 a.m. to the need for sanding. At 8:38 a.m. someone called because he suspected that the driver of a white four-wheel-drive vehicle going up and down East Bare Hill Road was looking for packages to steal; police searched both that road and the nearby side streets but did not locate the car. At 4:25 p.m. someone called the station to say a person had used his phone without authorization. At 5:18 p.m. Leominster police asked Harvard police to contact a Madigan Lane resident about leaving the scene of a minor accident in Leominster. At 9:10 p.m. a towing company asked police to block Mass. Ave. near Littleton County Road while the tow truck worked to free a stuck motor coach.
Saturday, Feb. 8
At 6:53 a.m. police notified the DPW about hazardous road conditions. At 12:50 p.m. Dusty, the new police assistance dog, was introduced to townspeople at the Harvard Public Library.
Sunday, Feb. 9
Nothing of significance to report.
Monday, Feb. 10
At 4:18 a.m. police again called on the DPW to sand the roads. At 8:28 a.m. the police were called about a power outage resulting from a problem with a substation at the Ayer rotary. At 8:44 p.m. an officer on patrol asked the drivers of two cars parked at the Prospect Hill overlook to move along. And at 11:53 p.m. an officer notified the DPW once more to send out the sanders.
