In the past week, police made six motor vehicle stops, four resulting in verbal warnings and two in written warnings or citations. Officers checked on two drivers in disabled vehicles; both drivers said assistance was on the way. Emergency responders received four medical emergency calls, one request for a lift assist, and two requests for well-being checks. The ambulance squad took three people to area hospitals, two with Advanced Life Support services in attendance. Officers responded to eight false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Feb. 18
An officer arriving for duty at 11:36 p.m. reported that the off-ramp from Route 2 onto Ayer Road was very icy, and the Department of Public Works was notified to treat the area roads.
Wednesday, Feb. 19
At 9:08 a.m. Detective Daniele Fortunato introduced her police assistance dog, Dusty, at the men’s coffee at Hildreth House. At 9:28 a.m. a resident called police to report a case of credit card fraud. The resident’s card had been used to make purchases in New York; the card was canceled and a replacement issued. At 10:32 a.m. a Slough Road resident called to say a neighbor’s door was ajar, although no one was home; police went to the house, checked it, and secured the door. At 5:49 p.m. a caller told police a car with no lights was driving on Route 2; state police were alerted.
Thursday, Feb. 20
At 12:07 p.m. Dusty, the police assistance dog, was back at Hildreth House to be introduced to the lunch crowd.

Sunday, Feb. 23
At 10:15 a.m. an officer notified National Grid and the DPW about an uprooted tree that looked likely to fall on power lines along Old Shirley Road. At 3:30 p.m. someone called 911 to say a green Toyota was weaving along East End Road in Bolton, headed toward Harvard; police checked the Stow Road area but did not locate the car. At 10:07 p.m. an officer checked on a car at the Prospect Hill overlook; the occupant was cited for violating the town’s law on marijuana consumption. A second car pulled up at 10:17 p.m., and the officer told the driver to move along.
Monday, Feb. 24
At 9:48 a.m. a caller reported a dead raccoon on Mass. Ave., and the body was removed. At 3:03 p.m. an alarm company called to say an alarm was going off at a home on West Bare Hill Road. An officer found two doors unlocked and secured them, although the alarm may have been set off by the family cat. At 4:02 p.m. a resident came to the station to report that several hundred dollars’ worth of purchases in Connecticut had been charged to his Apple credit card account; the case is under investigation. At 4:07 p.m. someone at Town Hall called about a car that was parked illegally there, but the car was gone when an officer arrived.
