Richard Higgins, author of “Thoreau and the Language of Trees,” will be the guest speaker at the Harvard Conservation Trust (HCT) annual meeting Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Volunteers Hall. Higgins, a former Boston Globe reporter and editor, has had articles published in the New York Times, Atlantic Monthly, Esquire, and Smithsonian. In his presentation he will explore Thoreau’s deep connections to trees and will explain why Thoreau’s love of trees and wisdom about them speaks to us today. The HCT business portion of the evening will start at 7 p.m. with the election of new trustees. The presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by light refreshments. Free and open to the public.  For more information call 978-456-9292.
