Department of Public Works Director Tim Kilhart notified the Press that town well #5 will be put back into service on Nov. 29. The well, one of the town’s two public water supply wells, has been offline since August because of coliform contamination. Kilhart said the well has had four coliform-absent tests in a row since it was super-chlorinated a few weeks ago, and on Nov. 26, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) gave the town the go-ahead to put the well back on line
Kilhart said he will be doing routine testing on the well next week, and the DEP has requested some extra tests over the next few months to make sure the coliform has not returned.
