During the past week, police made nine motor vehicle stops, resulting in seven verbal warnings and two written warnings or citations. They made one well-being check and helped three drivers with disabled vehicles, two of which had to be towed. The ambulance squad responded to four medical emergencies, taking two people to area hospitals, both with Advanced Life Support services in attendance. Officers also issued or renewed one firearm permit and dealt with three false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Oct. 8
At 8:04 a.m. a caller reported a car had gone off the side of Ayer Road; no one was injured. An officer on patrol at 9:38 a.m. told a paving crew working on West Bare Hill Road to move its trucks out of the road, where they were blocking a lane.
Wednesday, Oct. 9
At 11:49 a.m. several people on Shaker Road called 911 to report that a man and a woman were arguing loudly outside a car in the neighborhood. An officer spoke to the couple. At 4:52 p.m. someone from Oak Ridge Road in Littleton said a brown-and-white boxer dog, reported missing on Nextdoor Harvard, had been sighted in the area.
Thursday, Oct. 10
At 12:55 p.m. and again at 4:37 p.m., an officer attempted unsuccessfully to serve a restraining order against a Woodchuck Hill Road resident. Two further attempts later in the week also failed, as the person was apparently out of state. Police will continue their efforts to serve the order.
Friday, Oct. 11
At 7:03 a.m. an officer removed several fallen tree limbs that posed a hazard on Slough Road. At 3:18 p.m. two cars collided at the intersection of Ayer and Old Shirley roads, when the car on Old Shirley failed to yield to the oncoming Ayer Road traffic; no one was injured, but emergency services came to the scene. At 11:39 p.m. police responded to a burglar alarm at the Bromfield School. They discovered a door ajar and searched the building but found no one inside. The officers concluded that the alarm’s motion detectors had been set off when the unlocked door moved in the wind.
Saturday, Oct. 12
At 2:03 a.m. an officer removed a large branch that was lying in Old Shirley Road. At 1:09 p.m. police responded to several calls from town center about illegally parked cars around the flea market.
Sunday, Oct. 13
Nothing of significance to report.
Monday, Oct. 14
At 3:17 a.m. Bolton police called Harvard for backup in response to a 911 call on which a woman was heard screaming; officers searched the Village Lane area in Bolton without result. At 11:05 a.m. a Bolton Road resident phoned to say her mailbox and its post were missing from the end of her driveway; police said a driver probably removed the box and post after running into them. At 11:20 a.m. a car on Route 111 swerved over the centerline and struck the side mirror of a car in the other lane; no one was injured. At 12:48 p.m. someone on Bolton Road reported finding a dog; police informed animal control, and the dog was soon returned to its home. At 2:37 p.m. Ayer police asked Harvard for backup in a disturbance at a business on Littleton Road in Ayer, but the matter was settled quickly and Ayer canceled the call.
