In the past week, police made seven motor vehicle stops, with six resulting in verbal warnings and one in a written warning or citation, and helped one driver with a disabled vehicle. They also responded to two medical emergencies, both of which led the ambulance squad to take a person to an area hospital. In addition there were two requests to help a person who had fallen and one well-being check. Officers also responded to two false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Oct. 22
At 6:18 a.m. a person came to the police station to say he had been in a collision on Route 2; an officer referred him to the state police, who have jurisdiction over the highway. A few minutes later, at 6:23 a.m., a caller said a deer had been hit on Still River Road near Madigan Lane; police said the deer was killed. A 911 caller at 5:34 p.m. reported a hunter in camo at the side of Brown Road; police spoke to the hunter. At 7:20 p.m. an officer saw someone in the Bellevue Cemetery. As it was after dark, the officer spoke to the person, who turned out to be visiting a grave and planned to leave shortly.
Wednesday, Oct. 23
At 11:57 a.m. someone reported wires down on Park Lane, and police notified the cable company. Boxborough police asked Harvard for assistance at 1:30 p.m. when a woman called 911 to say that someone was possibly breaking into her home on Codman Hill Road; two Harvard officers responded and the area was checked, but nothing was found amiss.
Thursday, Oct. 24

Friday, Oct. 25
At 3:31 p.m. Acton police asked Harvard to contact the owner of a vehicle in town. At 4:54 p.m. a Bolton Road resident called to ask for a police presence on that street because cars were traveling at high speeds there. An officer set up radar operations in the area and issued a written citation shortly thereafter. At 10:04 p.m. a caller told police that someone was throwing pumpkins out of a dark sedan on West Bare Hill Road. Police located the car and spoke with the five young town residents in it; the matter was referred to their parents. At 10:30 p.m. someone on Partridge Hill Road reported a dog that had been barking for a long time; police located the dog, and its owner took it inside.
Saturday, Oct. 26
At 7:39 a.m. someone called about a downed tree on Woodchuck Hill Road; the DPW was notified. Another road hazard was reported at 9:26 a.m.—a fallen street sign on West Bare Hill Road—and again the problem was referred to the DPW. At 4:42 p.m. a Shaker Road resident said a white husky was loose in the area.
Sunday, Oct. 27
At 11:55 a.m. a group of Bromfield students called to report a large snapping turtle in the middle of Under Pin Hill Road. An officer came to the scene with a shovel, but the turtle finished crossing the road with no need for encouragement or assistance.
Monday, Oct. 28
At 10:39 a.m. a Stow Road resident called police after finding a chain saw that had been left in the resident’s barn. As no one had reported a stolen chain saw, police suggested it might have been left accidentally by someone doing landscape work. At 2:33 p.m. Millbury police called to ask for Sgt. Babu’s assistance with an accident reconstruction.
