During the past week, police made seven motor vehicle stops, resulting in five verbal warnings and two written warnings or citations, and they issued two parking tickets. The ambulance squad took six people to area hospitals, three with Advanced Life Support services in attendance. Officers also dealt with seven false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Oct. 1
At 2:31 p.m. a minor motor vehicle accident occurred between a school bus and a car behind the Bromfield School. No injuries were reported, and no vehicles were towed.
Wednesday, Oct. 2
Nothing of significance to report.
Thursday, Oct. 3
A car struck a deer on Scott Road at 7:16 a.m. The deer had to be euthanized. At 12:21 p.m. someone walked into the police station to report a larceny. No further details were available. At 10:58 p.m. officers responded to a report of a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee traveling at a speed over 60 m.p.h. from the Boxborough line to the vicinity of Pinnacle Road. The vehicle was gone on arrival.
Friday, Oct. 4
At 9:32 a.m. someone turned in a pair of prescription sunglasses that was found at a location on the Historical Society’s Barn Tour the previous weekend. The sunglasses are still at the station. A credit card found near the library was turned in at 9:27 p.m.; the credit card has since been claimed.
Saturday, Oct. 5
Police were notified at 7:06 a.m. that a private investigator would be working in town until noon. At 12:14 p.m. two parties requested to speak to an officer regarding a restraining order. Officers were called to Fruitlands Museum at 10:06 p.m. to assist a detail officer working at a wedding being held there with the removal of an unruly guest.
Sunday, Oct. 6
At 12:12 a.m. officers were called to a Candleberry Lane residence where they found an underage drinking party in progress. They arrested a 17-year-old juvenile for procurement and possession of alcohol. Police stopped a vehicle at 12:41 a.m. at the intersection of West Bare Hill Road and Still River Road, and arrested a 16-year-old juvenile for operating a vehicle with a junior operator’s license between the hours of 12:30 and 5 a.m. without a parent, and for a license not in possession violation. The vehicle was towed. At 8:42 a.m. a two-car accident at Ayer Road and Myrick Lane sent one person to the hospital. At 9:10 a.m., while traffic was stopped to clear that accident, a motorcycle traveling north on Ayer Road could not stop in time and crashed, sending its operator to the hospital as well.
Monday, Oct. 7
Police responded to a call of a tree down on Ayer Road at 11:19 a.m., but the tree was gone when officers arrived. At 1:34 p.m. the harbormaster reported the theft of multiple buoys from Bare Hill Pond, including two hazard buoys that were marking dangerous rocks (see story). Police are investigating; anyone with information should contact the Harvard Police Department.
