Bromfield’s varsity golfers won their first match of the 2019 season last Saturday, Aug. 29, beating the Hudson Hawks 39-15, at the Red Tail Golf Club in Devens.
The win was a nonleague victory against a Mid-Wach C team, whose division includes schools larger than those of Mid-Wach D, the division in which Bromfield competes.
“Although we lost five seniors, three of whom were among our top six, some new players and lower-class boys stepped up,” reported Coach Rod von Guilder. Junior Freddie Curtis and sophomore Adrian Curtis led the six-member team with par 36 scores; the remaining four had their best scores of the year, von Guilder said.
Bromfield was scheduled to play league opponent Clinton High School next at Red Tail Sept. 5.
