Let’s go to the movies

On Monday, Aug. 12, at 1 p.m. in Volunteers Hall, see “They Shall Not Grow Old,” a homage to the British troops of the First World War, with never-before-seen footage of soldiers as they faced the fear and uncertainty of frontline battle in Belgium. Overlaid by a narrative of those who partook in the war from interviews made in the 1960s and ’70s, this historic revisiting marks 100 years since the end of the Great War.

Visit Peabody Essex Museum

The van will leave Hildreth House at 9 a.m. Fee of $20 (cash only) covers museum, tour, and van. Sign up by Aug. 9.

O’Connor’s Irish

Pair your choice with a beer on tap or a glass of fine wine. The van ($2 fee) will leave at 10:30 a.m. Call to reserve a seat.

Breakfast for our veterans

On Tuesday, Aug. 27, from 9 to 10 a.m. the COA will offer a breakfast for all veterans. There will be a special speaker in addition to the meal. If the event goes well, the COA may start a monthly “Vet Café.” Please sign up in advance.

Free Tuesdays

Fill out your
File of Life form!

The COA wants to be sure that everyone has a completed File of Life form located both on their refrigerator and in their wallet in case an emergency happens while away from home. The form includes information about prior medical conditions, allergies, medications, and names of contacts.
On Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 1 p.m. students will be on hand at Hildreth House to help seniors fill out File of Life forms.
