Police made 10 motor vehicle stops during the past week, with eight resulting in verbal warnings and two in written warnings or citations. They responded to two medical emergencies, one of which required the Ambulance Service to take the injured person to a hospital. They also responded to six false alarms and issued or renewed two firearms licenses.
Tuesday, June 18
At 12:42 a.m. an officer ticketed an illegally parked car at the Bromfield School. At 2:59 p.m. a business owner on Lancaster County Road told police that someone had possibly dumped trash in his private dumpster without permission; there has been no further word on the issue.
Wednesday, June 19
At 3:11 p.m. someone called 911 and reported that a young child had sustained a head injury after a fall near the McCurdy Track, and the ambulance squad took the child to the hospital.
Thursday, June 20
A Bowers Road resident called at 1:48 p.m. to say their Bank of America credit card had been compromised and used at a store in California. Police are investigating to see if this is a new scam or linked to previous ones. At 4:26 p.m. someone on Bolton Road called with suspicions about a man standing at the end of the driveway; an officer spoke to the man in question and found no problem. An officer on patrol noticed a car parked at the McCurdy Track at 10:50 p.m., when the track is closed, and asked the driver to move along.
Friday, June 21
An East Bare Hill Road resident called at 11:41 a.m. to complain about someone soliciting in the neighborhood, but the person was gone when an officer arrived. At 11:52 a.m. an officer told a truck driver parked on East Bare Hill Road to move because the truck was blocking traffic. A Littleton Road resident called at 2:29 p.m. to report a fallen tree, but the tree was on private property, so it was the owner’s responsibility.
Saturday, June 22
At 12:05 a.m. Ayer police called to report a possibly drunk driver heading through Harvard toward Stow; Harvard police searched the area but did not see the vehicle. At 12:23 a.m., an officer noticed two people in a car at the Prospect Hill overlook and told them to move along. At 1:46 p.m. a 911 call alerted police to a one-car crash on Route 2 eastbound, in which a person had been injured. State police had jurisdiction over the crash, but the Harvard ambulance took the injured person to the hospital. At 6:05 p.m. a West Bare Hill Road resident complained about a car parked in a bad spot there, and police asked the car’s owner to move it. The Stow police called at 11:41 p.m. for help in contacting the parents of a Harvard juvenile, but then withdrew the request after reaching the family directly.
Sunday, June 23
At 6:42 a.m. someone came into the police station to report a fallen utility pole on Cleaves Hill Road; National Grid was notified. At 12:29 p.m. Harvard police assisted Boxborough officers with a disturbance on Paddock Lane.
Monday, June 24
Between 10:30 and 11 a.m. an officer checked the area along Massachusetts Avenue to follow up on last week’s report about a man who came out of the woods between Mass. Ave. and Haskell Lane, alarming a resident on the latter road. At 11:40 p.m. a caller reported a car parked in the Westward Orchards Farm Store lot; police determined that the vehicle belonged to a neighbor.
