The Bromfield girls tennis team cruised to victory in its MIAA Central Division 3 first-round match against Littleton Monday, June 3, outplaying the Tigers on the Trojans’ home court 4-1.
Monday’s match was the third time the girls had competed against the Littleton squad this season, and their 4-1 margin of victory was identical to that of their previous two encounters.

Singles players sophomore Leimalia Tratnyek, senior Alex O’Neil, and junior Olivia Noyes dominated their matches, but the two doubles teams were more evenly matched. First doubles juniors Lucy Bodtman and Olivia Gomez eked out a win, but the second doubles team of eighth-grader Sara Burns and junior Sara Picariello lost a grueling match after giving up back-to-back tiebreakers. Second doubles regular eighth-grader Holly Fisher was ill and unable to compete.
Coach Chris Holmes said he
had hoped for a second doubles win but was pleased to see Bodtman and Gomez defeat the first doubles Tigers opponents, who have beaten Bromfield in the past. The players had to deal with blustery wind on an afternoon of sporadic sunshine and clouds, but the matches were otherwise uneventful.
Following Monday’s match, the girls were headed next to the quarterfinals, where they were to play the fourth-seeded team of Advanced Math and Science Academy (13-4), Wednesday, June 5, at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough. Bromfield had lost both of its matches against AMS earlier this season, 4-1 and 5-0. Bromfield’s overall record was 15-5.
