The Mt. Greylock Regional High School Mounties didn’t stand a chance at last week’s MIAA Central/West DIvision 2 girls lacrosse championship. Bromfield’s girls shut down their western rivals’ offense, dismantled its defense, and dominated possession to win, 19-1, in a one sided game Thursday, June 13. It was their second district championship in two years.

The team now moves to the Division 2 state semifinals, which will be played Tuesday evening, June 18, at Babson College. There the Trojans will face the Manchester-Essex Hornets (12-5), the North Division 2 champions. The Hornets, fourth-seeded in their league, narrowly defeated Newburyport 7-6 last week to win their district. The winner of Tuesday’s match will compete for the state title on Friday, June 21.
The game against Mt. Greylock was played miles from Harvard at Chicopee Comprehensive High School in Chicopee on a chilly, drizzly afternoon. Tuesday’s weather won’t be much better, but the game will be closer to home.
