Tip #9: Recycling batteries
Batteries can be dropped off at the Transfer Station during normal hours. The Harvard Transfer Station accepts all nonleaking batteries for free, including alkaline, car, and lithium-ion. Place smaller batteries in the white 5-gallon bucket next to the shack; attendants will take larger batteries. If you can, tape over both ends of the batteries so that the batteries don’t ‘touch’ in the bucket and start a fire. The Transfer Station staff is trained to pack up batteries and ship them out.
