The Press spent a recent Saturday morning at the Transfer Station asking residents if they plan to attend Annual Town Meeting May 4. Here are their responses and the reasoning behind them.

“Yes, I’ve always gone to Town Meeting. It’s my civic responsibility.” |

“My husband Louis and I always go because we need to know what’s going on in town.” |

“I’ve gone to a few meetings. Even if I’m not here for the duration [his family is moving out of town], I feel it is important to peek my head in, with there being important issues, especially the new elementary school.” |

“My husband and I always go, we never miss. I go because it’s important and my duty as a citizen—it’s the same reason I vote.” |

“I have to admit the shame. I’ve been here 15 years and have never been … I wake up really early and go to bed really early, a feeble excuse.” She said she’s going to make an effort to start attending. |

“I’ll make my best effort to go. I’ve lived here six years, and I’ve never gone, so I’d like to go once as my duty as a resident.” |

“Yes, I’m going. I’m newer to town and I think it’s important to be involved in the community.” |

“I’m going to Town Meeting because I need to listen to people and what they have to say before I vote.” |

“I’m going to be in Virginia, but I normally go. My husband will go in my place. I’m giving him a copy of the Press with all the important parts underlined … This is our town and it’s important to participate.” |

“Yes, I’ll be working there, checking people in. We [he and his wife] always go, as long as we are in town.” |
