Celebrate mothers!

On Tuesday, May 7, the COA will host a lunch to celebrate our mothers. If you have a picture of your mother, bring it and share a story about her. Enjoy a special lunch and have a chat about how our mothers have influenced us and continue to influence us even after they are gone. There is limited space; call to reserve a seat.



Build a shadow box with Joe Faria

Joe Faria, woodworker extraordinaire, will offer a class on making shadow boxes. He will help you assemble your own shadow box to show off your memorabilia or treasured keepsake. We’ll provide the supplies. The class will be on Thursdays, May 9 and May 16, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and will be limited to six people. Fee is $5. Sign up early to reserve a spot.



See the daffodil show
at Tower Hill

Welcome spring with a tour of the beautiful grounds at Tower Hill Botanical Gardens Friday, May 10. Participate in a docent-led tour of the daffodil field of more than 25,000 daffodils, have lunch at the Farmer and Fork restaurant, and visit the Wind, Waves & Light Art in motion exhibit.

The van leaves Hildreth House at 10 a.m. and returns around 2:30 p.m. Fee for tickets and van is $15, payable when you sign up. Space is limited so call to reserve your spot.



Celtic music concert will benefit COA van fund

Hear Dónal Clancy, one of Ireland’s finest guitarists, Friday, May 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Church. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Harvard COA, and net proceeds will go to the van fund. Tickets for seniors are $18 in advance, $25 same day. Free vision screening

D’Ambrosio Eye Care optometrist, Brenda Komari, O.D., will provide a vision, glaucoma, and cataract screening, Tuesday, May 21, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. There is no charge, and no insurance is required.



Estate Planning: What you need and what to consider

On Wednesday, May 29, at 1 p.m. attorney Nancy Chew will explain the documents necessary to protect and preserve your wishes and your family’s financial and legal welfare in the event of your incapacity or death. The goal is to ensure that your emotional, financial, and legal goals are met in the event such circumstances arise. The discussion will include trusts, wills, powers of attorney, health care proxies, and legal ways to protect your home as well as what you get from your doctor versus your lawyer. Coffee and light snacks will be served.
