During the past week police made four motor vehicle stops, resulting in three verbal warnings and one written warning or citation. They responded to six medical emergencies, from which the ambulance squad took four people to the hospital, one with Advanced Life Support on board. An officer also answered a call about a green Ford Escape that appeared disabled on Ayer Road, but the car was nowhere to be found when help arrived. Police also issued or renewed one firearm license.
Tuesday, April 23
A caller at 12:28 a.m. reported a rollover on Route 2 westbound, but police found no evidence of such an accident when they searched. Officers described it as a “good intent” call. At 2:57 p.m. Ayer police called to alert Harvard to a car with a loose tire heading into town on Ayer Road, but the car was no longer in the area.
Wednesday, April 24
At 8:59 a.m. an officer notified the Department of Public Works about a large sinkhole near the intersection of Mass. Ave. and Bolton Road. A woman came to the police station at 9:24 a.m. to report an attempted phone scam in which a person offered to pay for her plane flight to a job interview by sending her a large check, while asking her to send them cash for the difference between the amount of the check and the cost of the ticket. That seemed suspicious to her, and police agreed it was attempted larceny; the check would have been worthless. At 9:26 a.m. a West Bare Hill Road resident reported another in a series of puzzling anonymous mailings. For about a year, someone has been sending her envelopes from out of state that contain nothing but a plastic bottle lid. Police called it a form of harassment.
Thursday, April 25
At 3:33 a.m. state police asked for assistance from the Harvard Ambulance Service and the Fire Department with a crash on Route 2 eastbound. The ambulance took a person to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. At 4:28 p.m. state police called to ask for assistance with a vehicle fire on Route 2 westbound, but they withdrew the request when they determined the smoke was coming only from the brakes. An officer who was checking the Bare Hill Pond beach at 10:36 p.m. found three young people there after hours and told them to leave the area.
Friday, April 26
At 10:25 a.m. a Littleton Road resident came to the station to report a case of credit card fraud that may be connected to those for which three Florida men were recently arrested (see story).
Saturday, April 27
An officer on patrol noticed two out-of-area cars parked at a business on Lancaster County Road at 1:46 a.m. He spoke with the drivers, who moved on. At 9:10 a.m. someone near the community gardens on Littleton Road called police about two men seen in the area with cameras and hunting bows. Turkey hunting season was open only for a youth hunt that day, not for adults. At 6:05 p.m. someone from Still River Depot Road complained about a speeding car. Police located the car and reminded the driver to slow down.

Monday, April 29
At 9:36 a.m. police notified the DPW about a road hazard on South Shaker Road. At 3:33 p.m. someone at Fruitlands called to report a dog running loose, and police notified the animal control officer.
