Richard B. Greene, 87, of Harvard died Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Apple Valley Center in Ayer.
Dick was born in Cambridge, July 13, 1931, the son of Harold and Evelyn (Senter) Greene, and resided in Harvard for almost 50 years.
During the Korean Conflict Greene served his country in the U.S. Navy.
For over 30 years he worked as a commercial artist at Humphrey Browning & McDougal in Boston. During this time, he spent his weekends and weeknights building a house and moved all five kids into it before it even had walls, in a snowstorm. Crazy!
An avid hockey player, Dick played for the Rusty Blades in the Old Timers Hockey League at the Wallace Civic Center three times a week well into his mid 80s.
He leaves three daughters: Cheryl A. Price of Lunenburg and her partner Alan C. Frechette of Leominster; Sheila J. Greene-Day and her husband, David, of Fitchburg; and Carol Anne Wegener of Florida; a brother, Harold Greene Jr. of Arlington; nieces and nephews and seven grandchildren, Ricky Greene, Mike Wegener, Tanner Price, Kayla Wegener, Tyler Price, Nicholas Day, and Kimberly Day.
Dick was predeceased by his son, Brian R. Greene, in February 2009; his wife, Joan M. (Ford) Greene, in March 2009, and his daughter, Donna M. Greene-Swann, in November 2009.
