Ginny Thurston scholarships available
The Select Board will offer financial assistance to Bromfield seniors through the Ginny Thurston Scholarship fund, which was established in 2000. Letters of interest are due no later than Friday, April 26. Interested students should go to bit.ly/2TKWdql or the Bromfield guidance office for additional information.
Give blood during April and ‘bleed for the throne’
The American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to give blood or platelets during April, National Volunteer Month. While donors of all blood types are needed, the Red Cross currently has a severe shortage of type O and urges type O donors to give now.

To celebrate the final season of “Game of Thrones,” HBO and the American Red Cross have partnered to encourage fans and donors to show their bravery by “bleeding #ForTheThrone.” Those who donate by April 30 will receive a commemorative Bleed For The Throne poster, (while supplies last) and will be entered for a chance to win a full-size Iron Throne from HBO’s Game of Thrones.
HES kindergarten registration open
Full-day and half-day kindergarten registration is now open at HES. To enroll your child, go to hildreth.psharvard.org to download pertinent documents and to sign up for an appointment Thursday, May 2, or Friday, May 3.
Please bring to your appointment all documents, including the Harvard Public Schools registration packet, your child’s recent physical exam, immunization records, birth certificate, and proof of residency. Both you and your child will attend to complete the registration process, meet with school staff to share academic and developmental history, and to complete an academic screening with a kindergarten teacher. Saturday, May 4, is Annual Town Meeting
The 2019 Annual Town Meeting will be held at the Bromfield School gymnasium, Saturday, May 4, starting at 9 a.m. Go to https://bit.ly/2KGR6rH to view the Finance Committee booklet, which includes the entire warrant. The booklet will be mailed to all Harvard residences the weekend of April 27.
Tuesday, May 7, is Annual Town Election
The 2019 Annual Town Election will be held at the Bromfield School cafeteria, Tuesday, May 7, from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Absentee ballots for the election will be available approximately three to four weeks before the election. Go to the town clerk’s office for an absentee ballot application or download it from https://bit.ly/2v8Ofxp. You may vote in the town clerk’s office or have the ballot mailed to you. Ballots may not be hand-carried out of the office. The last day to request an absentee ballot is Monday, May 6, at noon.

Burning season ends May 1
Open burning is regulated by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and is enforced by the Harvard Fire Department. Open burning season runs from January 15 to May 1 each year. A valid permit obtained from the Harvard Fire Department is required. The fire chief reserves the right to deny open burning on any day due to weather or unfavorable environmental conditions.
