Building upon the success of last year’s inaugural event, Fivesparks (formerly the Harvard Cultural Collaborative) will host the second annual Harvard Music Festival, June 17-22. Acclaimed performers, selected young artists, and experienced amateur musicians will visit Harvard for a week of workshops, coaching, and performances. This year’s theme is “Explore/Invite/Engage,” celebrating the improvisatory spirit of making music happen in community. On Thursday, June 20, the events are:
9 a.m. – Quartet 1078 coaching at UU Fellowship Building; Eliot Quartet rehearsal at 27 Willow Road; both free and open to the public
10:15 a.m. – Florida Trio rehearsal at UU Church; VW Quartet coaching at UU Fellowship Building; both free and open to the public
4 p.m. – “Speaking About Music” discussion/workshop with musicologist Andrew Shryock at UU Church
8 p.m. – open music salon – musical tapas from the week, with dessert (private home venue TBA); register at eventbrite.com (search for Fivesparks)
