Donate to Camp Sunshine clothing drive
A clothing drive to benefit Camp Sunshine and the Epilepsy Foundation will be held Saturdays, April 6, 13, and 20, at the Transfer Station from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For every pound of clothing collected, the Epilepsy Foundation will donate $0.20 to Camp Sunshine, a camp in Casco, Maine, serving children facing life-threatening illnesses and their families. All clothing items as well as shoes, backpacks, linens, fabric, and yarn will be accepted. Residents may also drop off items at the Bromfield School, the library, St. Theresa’s Church, and Hildreth House. Life support/CPR course offered
Always On Call Health Services® Inc. will offer the American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support/CPR for the Health Care Provider course Tuesday, April 9, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at 285 Central St. in Leominster. This course is geared for people who work within the health care field, day care providers, and nursing school students. Registration is required in advance at 978-537-9900 ext. 114.
Healing Garden offers programs to the public
The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden Cancer Support Center now offers Qi Gong and yoga classes for men and women. Programs are open to the public for anyone age 18 and over, whether affected by a cancer diagnosis or not. Workshops will help you relax body and mind and strengthen the mind/body connection. Classes take place at The Healing Garden, a serene facility surrounded by 8 acres of woodlands at 145 Bolton Road. All programs require pre-registration. July 4th field events at risk; volunteers needed!
The Harvard 4th of July Committee needs volunteers to coordinate field events and to coordinate/judge the bike-decorating contest. Without coordinators, we can’t include field events or bike decorating in this year’s festivities. These positions are fun and are a small time commitment . . . just a few hours to organize beforehand and on the day of the event. As a thank you, you’ll get a free parking pass for the fireworks concert on July 3. Please help with this long-standing tradition. Rabies clinic at town garage
The Nashoba Associated Boards of Health (NABH) has scheduled a rabies clinic to be held Saturday, April 7, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Harvard Town Garage. Cats must be brought in cages or closed boxes during the last half of the clinic. The charge per immunization is $15. Contact the NABH at 978-425-6675 with any questions.
T-ball registration now open
The Harvard Youth Baseball and Softball Association has announced that registration is open at www.harvardyouthbaseball.org for children aged 4 to 6 who would like to play T-ball this spring. The T-ball season will start May 4 and will run every Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. through June 15, with the exception of May 25 (Memorial Day weekend).
To introduce children to T-ball, bring them to “Have a Ball” Saturday, April 27, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Ryan land. This free event is co-hosted by the Harvard Family Association. If you have questions or if you would like to volunteer to coach, email jc_ac1@msn.com.
