Tip #3: How do I get rid of hazardous household items?
Harvard residents can take hazardous items to the Devens Regional Household Hazardous (HHW) Products Collection Center. Devens HHW is open the first Wednesday and following Saturday of the month from March through December and is located at 9 Cook St. (rear) in Devens. Fees apply and proof of residency is required. For more information go to www.devenshhw.com. Please contact HHW for the acceptability of any items not listed
This recycling tip is brought to you by the Transfer Station Committee.
Editor’s Note: On July 1, Harvard will implement its new SMART (Save Money and Reduce Trash) program. Residents will be required to purchase a sticker to gain entry to the Transfer Station, as well as specially marked bags for the disposal of non-recyclable materials. The sticker entitles residents to dispose of glass, paper, or plastic at no charge. The Press is publishing a tip a week to help readers reduce the volume of their trash, while increasing the volume they recycle.
