The Bromfield Trojans defeated the North Middlesex Patriots 52-36 at home last Thursday night, Jan. 31.
From the beginning, Bromfield played a strong, high-scoring game. Junior Nathan Rogers opened the game by scoring the first 2 points for the Trojans. Three more baskets, including one 3-pointer, followed, while North Middlesex remained scoreless for the first five minutes of the period and added only 4 points by its end. By then, the Trojans led 19-4.

In the second quarter, North Middlesex outscored the Trojans. In the first couple of minutes, the Patriots sank three baskets, including a foul shot, raising the score to 19-11 Bromfield, closing the gap. The Trojans responded by jumping ahead with three foul shots from senior Patrick Flanagan and 4 more points from Rogers. With the score 26-11, the Patriots were able to squeeze only 4 more points in before the quarter ended 26-15.
While Bromfield dominated the first half of the third quarter, North Middlesex was in control throughout the second. Still, Bromfield scored 11 points to the Patriots’ 9. The Patriots fell further behind, and the quarter ended 37-24 Bromfield.
The fourth period was North Middlesex’s highest scoring quarter. A Patriot scored a 3-pointer at the top of the fourth quarter, and his team went on to earn a total of 12 points. But the existing 13-point deficit and Bromfield’s additional 15 points for the quarter did not do North Middlesex any favors, ending the game 52-36 Bromfield.

Key players for Bromfield in this game were Flanagan, who had a game high of 17 points, and freshman Jayden Ndjigue with 13 points.
Bromfield’s overall record is now 8-7. The Trojans were scheduled to play Clinton at home Tuesday, Feb. 5.
