The Trojans put forth their best effort on their home court Friday, Feb. 8, but the Quabbin Panthers dominated the Bromfield girls basketball team 38-25, qualifying them for the MIAA state tournament.

Junior Callie Frackiewicz led the Bromfield team in points, netting 12 in the game. She scored 3 of her points off free throws and the rest from field goals.
Senior Beatrice Wig was “dominant on the boards,” according to Coach Bob Miller, collecting 15 rebounds in total, alongside freshman Natalia Dutkewych, who collected 11. Additionally, each was credited with two steals.
Additional key players freshman Chloe Scornavacca and senior Bryn Pierce chipped in 4 points each, hustling “throughout the game to keep the Panthers off balance,” along with the rest of their teammates, Miller said.
Their efforts were not enough to secure a lead, however, and by the end of the first half the Panthers were ahead 23-15. When the second half ended, the Panthers ultimately prevailed over the Trojans 38-25.
Following the game, Miller said, “We competed extremely well tonight. I’m so proud of our team. Our girls made Quabbin earn every point they scored. They are a very good team and deserve to be heading to the state tourney.”
The Trojans will wrap up the season with senior night in the Bromfield gymnasium Thursday, Feb. 14, at 5:30 p.m. against their division rival, the Lunenburg Blue Knights.
