In the past week, Harvard police made seven motor vehicle stops, leading to three verbal warnings and four written warnings or citations. They also responded to two calls about disabled vehicles and helped two drivers who were locked out of their cars. Officers responded to four medical emergencies, from which two people were taken to hospitals, one with Advanced Life Support on board. Police issued or renewed two firearms licenses.
Tuesday, Feb. 12
Someone called 911 at 3:58 p.m. to say two cars had collided at the intersection of Mass. Ave. and Bolton Road. The driver of a car traveling south on Mass. Ave. lost control in the snow and skidded into a car coming toward town center from Bolton Road. One person was injured and taken to a hospital by the ambulance squad, and both cars were towed.
Wednesday, Feb. 13

Thursday, Feb. 14
At 6:37 a.m. and again at 7:22 a.m., police stopped someone for driving unsafely; both drivers had failed to clear enough snow from their vehicle windows for good visibility.
Friday, Feb. 15
A 911 caller at 8:25 a.m. alerted police about a large tire in the middle of Ayer Road near the post office. An officer moved the tire to the roadside and called the Department of Public Works to dispose of it. At 5:40 p.m. a caller reported a two-car collision near Sorrento’s on Ayer Road. Several people were injured in the crash and were taken to Nashoba Valley Medical Center by ambulance crews from Harvard, Ayer, and Devens. Both cars required towing.
Saturday, Feb. 16
At 12:36 p.m. someone called 911 to report a car speeding on Bolton Road. Police located the car and gave the driver a verbal warning. At 7:07 p.m. three people who entered the Bromfield School after hours to play some unauthorized basketball set off the burglar alarm there, bringing police to the school; the police informed school officials.
Sunday, Feb. 17
A Littleton Road resident called police at 11:36 a.m. to say a neighbor’s dog had been howling for more than an hour. The police told the animal control officer about the problem.
Monday, Feb. 18
At 12:56 p.m. a passerby reported a car in a snowbank on Finn Road. After going part way off the road, the driver had apparently locked the car and left. Police arranged for the car to be towed because it was a hazard to other drivers. As of Tuesday morning, the out-of-town owner had not yet called about retrieving it.
